Go to any gym and you’ll hear members discuss supplements. It can get confusing FAST.
The FDA regulates supplements as food, not as drugs. These are meant to add to (“supplement”) your diet and not meant to take the place of normal food.
One fact – did you know that the FDA doesn’t require companies to prove that their products are safe before going to market?
Another fact – companies can hide behind the phrase “proprietary blend”. This phrase typically means “filler ingredients” like flour and cornstarch.
I always suggest the documentary “Bigger, Stronger, Faster” – there’s a section of the movie where the producer makes his own totally legal dietary supplement in his kitchen; here’s a link to that portion of the movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThdFqGLq4QU and a link to the Dietary Health & Education Act of 1994 (mentioned in the video) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dietary_Supplement_Health_and_Education_Act_of_1994
